Shadow is a 25 year old Tennessee Walking horse gelding (with a true trot)
standing 15.2 hands. Although not broken to almost 12 and then used
primarily as a trail horse, he is definitely a natural at therapeutic riding. His
signature trait is all students must pet him before taking the final step to the
mounting block for them to ride. He has been with the Center for 10 years now
and is still going strong and loves his work. .
Fantasy Spirit (aka Rex) is a 25 year old Hackney Pony Gelding. Standing
12 hands. Rex is the mascot for the center since he's so cute and as a former
show pony, loves to pose for the camera. Don't let his size fool you, his nick
name is "Hot Rod" since he is very hot and thinks he is 17 hands and 2000
pounds. Rex is used for our mental health and At Risk programs. His
reactiveness (hot) is great for teaching a student to stay on task, read body
language and develop a working relationship. When they get it right, he
rewards with patience and understanding.

Beechwood Medalion (aka Dale) is a 24 year old Morgan Gelding standing
13.2 hands. Dale has done it all, from a show pony to driving. He's been with
the center for over 6 years and serves our driving and mounted students. While
all business in the ring, he's quite the cut up in the pasture and acts more
like he's 6.
Polly is a 20 year old Halflinger cross pony mare standing 13 hands. While
relatively new to the program, she is rock solid with students and a great size
for our little ones. Although she lost sight in one eye due to an injury,
not much of anything bothers her and she just waits for you to tell her what's next.
Deil's Lucky Four (aka Lucky) is a 22 year old American Miniature Horse gelding
standing 36 inches. Lucky arrived in 2004 with his buddy Baron for our driving
program. He's much more cautious than Baron and likes to check things out but is
calm and patient with our students. He and Baron are the perfect size for our
students using wheelchairs (and our little ones) to learn to groom, lead and tack.
Evans Little Baron (aka Baron) is an 18 year old American Miniature Horse
gelding standing 34 inches. Since he and Luck have been together over
15 years, they came as a package. His personality is much more lively and
a bit of a dare devil - we call him Dennis the Menace for his antics, but is a
delight to work with and stays on his best behavior with the students. Great
at driving, he is also used for barn lessons like Lucky.
Real Appealing (aka Miss Buffy) is an 18 year old Appaloosa mare standing
15 hands. Buffy is the "alpha" horse (or leader) of the herd and owned by our
lead instructor. She is a natural in our mental health and At Risk programs,
constantly testing students during exercises and letting them know they need
to adjust their attitudes. Buffy is in training for our mounted program.
Not Quite an Angel, (aka Annie) is a 10 year old Paint mare donated to the
Center in 2008. She's very talkative and loves attention so she's the one
that likes to greet people. Curious about all things new, you'll find her
checking out every new toy and game we use in lessons. Although she
didn't have a lot of training on her when she came, she catches on quickly
and we look forward to a long partnership with her.
